VITESS Tool Distance-Time Plot

This tool shall help to check and visualize the designed chopper system. It is written independently of other parts of the package and can therefore be seen as a cross-check to ChopperPhases etc.. It generates a ps-file containing a distance-time-plot. The file is written to the parameter directory, if it is known. The frame is defined by the chopper with the greatest distance to the source. The other choppers are supposed to be frame overlap choppers.

The following data need to be given to display the s-t-diagram:

Parameter
Unit
Description
Range or values
Command Option
distance source - detector
[m]

> 0
-D
Time to be displayed
[ms]
length of x-axis
> 0
-t
Repetition time of pulses
[ms]
time between two successive pulses
> 0
-R
Pulse length
[ms]
length of pulse
>= 0
-p
First desired frame
frame that is displayed, i.e. the chopper phase is not used to calculate the frame
frame 1 defined by first opening of (last) chopper after beginning of pulse
>= 1  (default 1)
-f
Title of the figure
title written to the top of the figure
no restriction
-T
file name
name of the file that contains the figure
no restriction
-F

For each chopper the following data are needed:

Parameter
Unit
Description
Range or Values
Command Option
Distance: source - chopper
[m]

> 0
-C
chopper aperture
[deg]
angle of each opening
> 0 deg, < 360 deg
-a
chopper phase
[deg]
Phase to the center of the first opening; at t=0, phase = 0 is assumed
no restriction
-o
No of aperture openings per cycle
If the number of apertures on the chopper is greater than 1 or the frequency of the chopper is higher than that of the source (or both), the number of opening and closing of a window per source cycle can be greater than 1. This number (factor) has to be given here.
1, 2, 3, ....
-N
No of apertures on chopper
choppers with more than 1 window can be treated; but they are supposed to have the same apertures and are symmetrically distributed on the chopper
1, 2, 3,
-n
